Candle Care

Soy wax has taken the candle-making world by storm, attracting attention for its eco-friendly qualities and superior performance. But what makes it unique? Let's peek into its charming appearance, impressive features, and how to care for your soy wax candles:

 Appearance

  • Color: Naturally opaque, ranging from off-white to creamy tones. While dyes can be used, vibrant colors are less achievable due to opacity. Expect earthy pastels or soft hues.
  • Texture: Smooth and creamy to the touch, but can develop a slightly bumpy or cratered surface after burning. This isn't a defect, but a natural characteristic embraced by many.
  • Frosting: Tiny white crystals appearing on the surface and sides are completely normal due to temperature fluctuations. They don't affect the performance or scent.
  • Clarity: Always opaque, unlike the translucency of paraffin wax. This means no see-through candles with soy wax.
  • Overall: A matte and slightly rustic look, offering a natural and handcrafted aesthetic.

Container Candle Care

  • First Burn: Burn your candle for 3-5 hours to create an even melt pool and prevent tunneling.
  • Burn within sight: Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Avoid drafty areas: Burn your candle in a draft-free environment to avoid uneven burning and flickering. Keep away from open windows, fans, and air vents.
  • Wick Trimming: Trim your wick to ¼ inch before each burn to prevent soot and maximize burn time.
  • Burn Surface: Keep the burn surface clean of debris and wick trimmings.
  • Extinguishing: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame safely and prevent smoke.
  • Storage: Store your candle with the lid on in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Repurpose: Recycle or reuse your Maison Luna glass jar once empty.

Pillar Candle Care

  • Trim the wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to ¼ inch for a clean, even burn.
  • Dish Required: Always burn your soy pillar candle on a heat-resistant dish or surface to protect furniture from potential wax drips.
  • Burn Time: For optimal burning and to prevent overheating, limit each burn to a maximum of 2 hours.
  • Cool completely: Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting or moving.
  • Sunlight: Keep your candle away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and extend its color and fragrance shelf life. Sunlight can fade the candle's color and weaken the scent.
  • Safety First: Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it away from flammable materials, children, and pets.
  • Decorative Intended Use: Due to the nature of shaped candles, we cannot guarantee a complete burn. These candles are primarily intended for decorative purposes.

Wax Melt Care

  • Melter Required: Use only a wax melter designed for wax melts. Do not attempt to melt wax melts in a candle burner or on the stovetop.
  • Burn Time: Do not leave a wax melter unattended for extended periods.
  • Cleaning: Clean your wax melter regularly to prevent residue buildup. Allow the wax to cool and solidify before removing it.
  • Safety First: Keep wax melters away from flammable materials, children, and pets.

Additional Notes

  • Soy wax is sensitive to temperature fluctuations, so you may experience some frosting or slight surface imperfections. This doesn't affect the performance of the candle.
  • Soy wax candles generally have a softer scent than paraffin wax candles.
  • By following these tips, you can ensure your soy wax candles burn cleanly and beautifully, filling your home with fragrance and a warm glow.
